FAQ - IN GENERAL

Q. I am so bad in front of the camera!

A. It’s completely normal to feel a little unsure at the beginning - most people do unless they model for a living. But rest assured, I’ll gently direct you throughout the session so you can relax into it. The nerves fade quickly, and the experience becomes surprisingly fun.

Q. How long will it take to see my photos after the session?

A. It takes 10 days to process your images. Or you are welcome to choose the fast delivery service which takes 2 days.

Q. How long after the session do you keep my images?

A. Processed images that you receive will be archived in my system for 1 year. I do not keep raw image files.

Q. What is the process of selecting the photographs that we want to keep from our session with you?

A. After our session, you will receive a PDF document with all of the quality images taken on the day. The images will be numbered and from there you will be able to select the photographs that you would like to receive in processed high resolution format. Depending on which package that you chose will determine how many images you will be able to select for processing, unless you have purchased all images (up to 5o photographs). From the day that the selected images are returned to me, there will be either a 2 or 10 day turn around time before you receive your high resolution images.

Q. How many images will I receive?

A. The number of images you receive will depend on the collection you choose. Please have a look at packages.

Q. Do you offer framing and photography books? How long do they take to make?

Yes. We do. Please let us know that you are interested and we can send you the products and items list. They take between 5 -10 days to deliver. Personally, I am a huge fan of giant hard wood framed canvas prints - or wall stories and am more than happy to discuss which walls you are looking to fill at home.

Q. What is your cancellation policy?

A. If something comes up and you can’t make your appointment, I just ask for 72 hours’ notice. Your deposit will go straight toward your rescheduled session. And if you or a family member is sick — life happens — I’m more than happy to find another date that works.

Q. My Partner hates being Photographed - How do I twist his arm?

A. Don’t worry — you’re in the majority! My sessions are relaxed, quick and very easy-going. No awkward posing, no long instructions. He’ll be comfortable before he knows it, and most husbands leave saying it was way better than they expected.

Q. In what locations do you take photographs?

A. I shoot wherever you’d love to be photographed. If you’re after a certain look, we’ll choose a location that suits it. I’m particular about the time of day we shoot, because good light makes all the difference. The conversation starts around what outcome of imagery you would like.

Q. My home is a disaster. It is a mess. Can you work with this?

A. I actually love a little “real-life mess.” I can always tidy a corner when needed, but those lived-in details often end up being the memories you value most. Life isn’t perfect - and when things get unpredictable, we simply work with it.

Q. Do we have to pay a deposit to make a booking?

A. No. Full payment is made on the day after the session.

Q. How far do you travel?

A. Depends. Tell me where you are and let’s work it out.

Q. My Kids don’t get along and have an attention span of -10. Will you be able to work with them?

A. Yes. It might take a little longer to get into a flow or the session will be over within 20 minutes because your kids are all about it and then lose interest, fast. I always adapt to whatever situation I am in. And a big part of the session is being able to accept that there might be huge melt downs, screaming fits, snack interventions and toilet breaks that last 15 minutes. It’s just the way it goes and we just go with it.

Q. I am such a stress head. How can I chill out on shoot day?

A. It’s up to me to manage our session and deliver. All you need to do is make sure you look after you. I’ll do the rest.

Q. What do we wear?

A.  What you should not wear are stripes, dots, fluro colours, white (off white is fine) or crazy straight line patterns.

FAQ - MATERNITY

Q. When is the best time for a maternity photography session?

A. I usually recommend scheduling your maternity session between 30–34 weeks. Your bump is lovely and round by then, and you’re typically still feeling comfortable enough to enjoy the session without too much strain.

Q. Where will our session take place?

A. I typically shoot on location. If you don’t have a particular place in mind, I can offer plenty of recommendations based on the look and feel you want.

Q. What should I wear? Can I do an outfit change during the session?

A. Yes — you’re welcome to change outfits. Soft neutrals and comfortable, simple pieces always work best.

Q. Do we need to do our hair and makeup?

A. I usually suggest keeping hair and makeup natural — similar to how you’d get ready for a nice evening out. This keeps the focus on you and ensures you still feel like yourself.

Q. How long does the maternity photography session take?

A. Maternity sessions take anywhere from 30-60minutes depending on how many outfit changes you would like to do and which package you select.

Q. What time of the day do you shoot?

A. It honestly depends on the final look that you would like to achieve.

Q. How should I prepare for my maternity session? Will you help?

A. Absolutely! When you book, you’ll receive my detailed Session Guide that walks you through everything you need to know. After that, we’ll chat on the phone so I can learn more about you and your family, discuss clothing, locations and any ideas you have.

FAQ - NEW BORN

Q. When should I book a newborn session?

A. If you love the curled-up, sleepy newborn images, the ideal window is within the first 12 days. That said, booking when your baby is 2 or even 3 weeks old is completely okay — newborns don’t change overnight.
What matters most is choosing a time that feels right for you. No pressure, no rush.

Q. My baby has been born already. Is it too late to book?

A. No, you’re not too late. If your baby has already been born, simply get in touch. If I have space in my schedule over the next few days, I can book you in straight away.

Q. WHAT IF MY BABY IS OVERDUE, CAN I CHANGE THE DATE?

A. Yes.

Q. How long does the newborn session last?

A. A minimum of 1 hour

Q. Do you come to my home and if so what about the mess?

A. Yes. I shoot in your home so you and your baby can feel relaxed and comfortable. And don’t worry about any mess — it’s never what I’m photographing.

Q. How do I know where you would like to take photographs in my house?

A. All we need is a room with a good sized window that lets plenty of natural light in. Most sessions I have done have been in the main bedroom, taking shots on the bed. All you need to do is make your bed nice and neat and pull up any blinds so that the room is as light as possible. Also ensure that the room is nice and warm.

Q. SHOULD I FEED MY BABY BEFORE THE SESSION?

A. Give your baby a good feed an hour before the session and your baby may well be sleeping when I arrive. When they are asleep this is the perfect time to capture fingers and toes without too much movement! There is plenty of time allowed for top ups and changes so you don't need to worry about this.

Q. WHAT SHOULD I DRESS MY BABY IN?

A.Simple is best

Q. CAN I HAVE MORE THAN ONE OUTFIT FOR MY BABY?

A.Of course. Before the session, lay out 2 or 3 (max) outfits. Some babies get distressed when getting naked and so may not appreciate an outfit change but you will know best and I leave this up to your own judgement. I like to get shots of their toes, so avoid a suit with feet. You may just want them in their nappy which is also fine. Just ensure the room is nice and warm and that you have a few blankets to hand.

Q. CAN SIBLINGS BE INCLUDED?

A.Absolutely, yes. If there is an older sibling they usually try and get in the pictures anyway! I like to capture touching moments between them and the new person in their lives. It's a curious time for them after all which creates a brilliant opportunity. How they interact and their expressions are all wonderful to photograph. Partners are also welcome to be a part of it. A family shot is most certainly on my list of must have shots during the newborn session. Sometimes families want just the baby and that is fine.

Q. WHAT IF MY BABY WON'T SETTLE?

A.If it's any consolation, I have photographed many, many babies and not once have I had one that didn't settle. Depending on how your baby is feeling, will drive my decisions on what kinds of photographs to do at that point. Babies cry. Sometimes alot. Usually once they've had a feed they do settle. I even capture pictures of them crying as I think it's all part of the newborn journey, so don't worry.
